ABOUT SILVER GHOST
Silver Ghost founder Weston Eidson’s great-grandfather, John Montagu, was a true automobile pioneer at the turn of the 20th century. As a British Lord and a member of Parliament, he played a crucial role in shaping early automotive legislation and was instrumental in advancing the motor industry in the UK. His influence extended to the royal family—Montagu famously gave the future King Edward VII his first-ever car ride, a historic moment captured in this photo.
Montagu was also a close friend of Charles Rolls and Henry Royce, the visionary minds behind the iconic car company. His legacy is forever intertwined with the brand, as his personal secretary, Eleanor Thornton, served as the inspiration for the iconic Rolls-Royce hood ornament, the Spirit of Ecstasy, which still graces their vehicles today.
Silver Ghost derives its name from John Montagu’s prized 1909 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, a car celebrated for its elegance, craftsmanship, and timeless appeal. Much like its namesake, Silver Ghost wine embodies layers of richness, culture, and authenticity—an homage to both a pioneering spirit and a commitment to excellence that spans generations.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER & WINEMAKER
Weston Eidson is an emerging star in American winemaking, known for his innovative approach, meticulous craftsmanship, and commitment to quality. Originally from Texas, he grew up around wine, recognizing its deep cultural and historical significance, as well as its special place at the dinner table. With a background in law and a successful business career, his appreciation for wine eventually led him to leave the corporate world and immerse himself fully in winemaking.
While attending graduate school in the UK, Weston expanded his knowledge by exploring renowned wine regions from Chile and South Africa to Bordeaux, Alsace, and the Veneto. His journey ultimately brought him to Napa Valley, where he worked the 2012 harvest under Jason Moore of Modus Operandi, quickly acquiring invaluable winemaking skills. He later trained under esteemed winemaker Russell Bevan, refining his expertise in crafting wines that are richly layered, complex, and balanced.
In 2012, Weston founded Silver Ghost Cellars, inspired by his great-grandfather’s Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost. Known for its elegant, expressive Cabernet Sauvignon, Silver Ghost reflects both Napa’s rich terroir and Weston’s dedication to minimal-intervention winemaking. His wines have earned critical acclaim, positioning him as a rising force in the future of American winemaking.
